it’s summer festival time and i want to go to at least one yoga/music festival… but which one(s)? i figured that if i wanted to know more about the choices i had, some of the show’s listeners might want to know, too. so i picked a couple that were on my short list: lightning in a bottle in OC and hanuman festival in boulder. i sent out feelers directly to their media contacts as well as through friends and eventually was able to line up interviews with the organizers. sweet! i also found out about one love fest, a new LA-based conscious music festival, so since i knew its producer, i contacted him directly and he agreed to chat with me on the show.

finding music was relatively straightforward. i picked musicians who would be performing at the three festivals i would be highlighting: bassnectar and larisa stow at LIB, and since i’d just received their new album releases, it would be desert dwellers (hanuman), and ash ruiz (one love).

it wasn’t until i was at the studio and doing a pre-show chat with kenneth schwenker that i found out that due to conflicting bookings, ash ruiz wouldn’t be performing at one love fest. oops. but since i didn’t bring any backup music with me, i ended up playing ash’s music anyway. oh well.

postscript — for those who traveled to el segundo for one love fest, it appears that there was a last-minute venue change to a private location in malibu. so for those who showed up at the original location without checking the website, my sincerest apologies (even if the change was totally out of my control).
